THE URBAN SHADE.

Nestled in the vibrant locality of Elamkulam, Ernakulam, Kerala, this residence spans a generous 20-cent plot. Conceived as part of the Semester 4 studio project 'Film + Architecture', the design envisions a home for the fictional characters from the Malayalam movie Bangalore Days. The dwelling harmoniously accommodates two cousins, Divya and Arjun, along with their partners, Das and Sarah, crafting a shared living experience that reflects their intertwined lives and individual identities.

A magnificent, mature mango tree graces the site, its dense foliage casting an expansive canopy of shade. Inspired by its commanding presence and natural allure, I envisioned the design of the house to embrace and revolve around this living centerpiece, allowing the tree to serve as the focal point and heart of the space.
